Food Service Ministry, our purpose is to use the vehicle of food to feed the Kingdom by providing excellence in quality and service to all we serve, to demonstrate Christian service according to Colossians 3:23 — "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men" — and to encourage our team members and volunteers to full devotion to Christ.
In the area of hospitality, this is especially true. The Lord repeatedly instructs us to practice hospitality, infact one of the repeatedly mentioned qualities required to be an elder is the faithful practice of hospitality (Titus 1:8, I Tim 3:2). So to, the passage which we read this morning tells us to be faithful in the practice of hospitality.

The gift of teaching allows people to transform information into life changing knowledge. Often gifted teachers communicate best in informal, one-on-one settings. Teachers have the uncanny knack of helping people learn effortlessly. People internalize and retain the knowledge and learning they receive from gifted teachers. Good teachers transform more than they inform.
Educators play an integral role in the development of children. They motivate, educate, inspire and pass on their wisdom and knowledge. While you may think of educators as only being traditional teachers, that’s far from the truth. Everyone is a teacher; parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, coaches, scout leaders, counselors, clergy, law enforcement and more. Everyone has something to teach.

The gift of administration allows a person to organize people and resources for greater effeciency, effectiveness, and success. Administrators have the natural ability to apply resources where they will do the greatest good. Administrators are good with details and are deeply aware of how all the parts of a group or organization work together to achieve their goals.
That is a fundamental distinction we all have to learn. Though there are many things that we have to practice, there are some things that we will be especially gifted at in the kingdom of God, our "specialization" so to speak. |

In our area of giftedness, we will find a special measure of joy in service, a fulfillment
in
doing the work,
a greater effectiveness in ministry. |

We are all called to be prophets, but there is a gift of prophecy. We are all called to be witnesses, but there is a gift of evangelism.
We are all called to serve, but there is a gift of helping others. We are all called to give to the work of the kingdom, yet there is the gift of contribution.
On one level we are called to practice these different aspects of being a Christian, on another level some of us are especially gifted at these tasks. |

The gift of faith is more than belief in Jesus Christ, but an abiding foundation of confidence that God works all things together for good, and that the people of God can rise above any obstacle.
Faith is the bedrock upon which we build lives, congregations, and communities. People with the gift of faith hold fast to the deep conviction that no matter what we see with our eyes, we can trust the promises and plan of God. |

Ushers are ministers of hospitality who play a key role in the living Body of Christ as the first contact believers have with the assembly when they arrive for service. How Ushers greet and welcome both newcomers and longtime parishioners makes a world of difference in how people prepare for the liturgy about to take place.
The hospitality that Ushers show in helping people find a seat, in collecting the gifts of money or in guiding the Communion procession must reflect the idea that the Church is our home. We are all members of the family of God, but at the same time we are all guests of God who calls us here.
The ushers of Grace UMC, are a group of volunteer men and women who serve as ministers of hospitality during Worship on Sundays, Holy days and special occasions, like Weddings. The ushers strive to insure the solemnity and tranquility of the liturgies. |
