Congratulations and Welcome
Our prayers are with you as you plan for one of the most important days of your life. We are continually engaged in pre-marital counselling as well as special courses to give you both a spiritual foundation for a successful Christ centered marriage. The information on this page is intended to help you with your planning and introduce you to our policies and fee schedule. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any additional concerns.
Grace UMC is a beautiful intimate setting for your unique wedding ceremony. Our sanctuary will comfortably hold 200 guests and congregants.
Grace UMC is perfectly set right on the center of Heights Boulevard, in the heart of the Houston Heights Historical Town of Houston, Texas.

We work with local planners, decorators, florists, bed and breakfasts, and restaurants to assist with your arrangments and accomodations.

Reservation by Deposit
A wedding date may be tentatively set on the church calendar after an initial request from the couple. However, a date is NOT considered secure until a nonrefundable deposit of $250.00 is made to Grace Church.
Music
If you care to utilize our Music Director and Organist, at least one consultation with our organist is required to arrange for desired music. We also have a piano in the sanctuary. Ask us about solo artists that are members of the church. We will accomodate independent artists you may hire, such as a flutist, harpist, stringed trio or quartet.

The consultation may take place by telephone. See fee schedule for organist honorarium. While music is not required, it is encouraged to enhance the ceremony. The Sanctuary is equipt with the latest technology for prerecorded music.

Rehearsal
A rehearsal is normally required prior to the wedding ceremony, depending on the size of the wedding party.
Attendance by the wedding party is required. Parents and family are also encouraged to attend the rehearsal.
Outside Officiates
Should the couple wish to have a minister from another United Methodist Church or another Christian Tradition conduct the service, permission from Grace United Methodist Church’s pastor is required and will be addressed on a case by case basis.

Classic Sanctuary
Grace UMC sanctuary is a beautiful chapel, with vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows. Rescued from the previous chapel, the breathtaking stained glass rosetta, at the entrance to the Chapel has been a beacon to the Heights community for 100 years.
Photographers love our vaulted cielings, outlined with solid oak beams in rich browns of the traditional German chapel design. Imbibe your new begining with a depth of heritage that only a historical church can provide. Memories of your ceremony will last a lifetime.
There is also a beautiful courtyard garden, outlined in native plants. Natural white and pink fill the garden in springtime. Turn this courtyard into a sunny and enchanting garden wedding your guests won't soon forget.
